TXT and JSON: available on every plan
A TXT download includes the selected release version of every chapter or article section in the work -- the same text that counts toward your book's progress. It's the plain-text equivalent of the assembled manuscript.
A JSON download is a full backup rather than a reading copy: it keeps every saved version, project, story note, timeline, task, activity entry, and preference. To restore it, open Settings → Export & backup, choose the file, review its project and section counts, then confirm. SagaFold downloads a safety copy of the workspace currently open before replacing it.
Open manuscript formats
Prose projects can also download Markdown or HTML. Screenplay projects can download Fountain, which preserves the explicit scene heading, action, character, parenthetical, dialogue, and transition blocks in a portable text format.
Choose these formats when another tool will continue shaping the manuscript. Open the result in that tool and check headings, paragraph breaks, and screenplay cues before treating the handoff as complete.
PDF, Word, EPUB, and Final Draft: paid-plan downloads
PDF, Word (DOCX), EPUB, and Final Draft XML downloads follow the same release-version rule as TXT and are available on paid plans. EPUB is offered for prose projects; Final Draft XML is offered for one film or show project.
For PDF, choose a preset and page settings, generate the file, then inspect its actual pages in the preview. The preview and download point to the same generated PDF. The book preset is a reading proof, not printer-certified prepress output; confirm a printer's requirements separately.
